Just a day after the official launch of ZEEKR Family’s first sedan, the ZEEKR 007, on December 28th, Xiaomi SU7 made its debut at a press conference with plans for a release in the first half of 2024. Including the recent announcements of new cars like Huawei’s Luxeed S7, a new wave is sweeping through China’s new energy vehicle market in 2024.
Getting back to the main topic, Xiaomi SU7 is positioned as a pure electric midsize sedan, emphasizing a sporty style with a range of 668km and 800km. Compared to the ZEEKR 007’s 688km and 870km ranges, the difference is minimal.
In terms of exterior design, SU7 has been playfully likened to the Porsche Taycan, targeting a youthful, sporty style. The headlight design is notably unique, exuding a spirited energy, especially with its aggressive daytime running lights. The protrusions on both sides of the hood are sharp, conveying a sense of strength. The front bumper undergoes some sporty treatments, presenting an overall dynamic and trendy design, in line with recent trends.
Positioned as a midsize sedan, SU7 features smooth and dynamic body lines. The door handles adopt a concealed design, and the rear of the car follows a liftback design. The roof offers a laser radar, expected to be available for high-end models. The rear features an electrically adjustable spoiler with Xiaomi lettering below, and the taillight design is sleek, treated with a darkened finish. The dimensions of the new car are 4997x1963x1440 (1455) millimeters, with a wheelbase of 3000 millimeters.
In terms of powertrain, Xiaomi SU7 will offer both single-motor and dual-motor versions. The single-motor achieves 299 horsepower, a range of 668km, a 5.28-second acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h. The dual-motor version reaches 673 horsepower, an 800km range, a 2.78-second acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h, and energy consumption of 13.8kWh and 14.7kWh per 100 kilometers.
With several “7 series” new energy vehicles making their debut simultaneously, we eagerly await the unfolding dynamics in China’s new energy vehicle market in the coming year.
