Recently, spy shots of two highly anticipated yet-to-be-released cars have surfaced, speculated to be new models from the Avatr series and the previously revealed Xiaomi SUV. These two vehicles have garnered significant attention, leading us to believe they will be the most awaited Chinese new energy electric vehicles of the coming year. Let’s delve into the latest revealed details.
Based on official test images released by Avatr, the new model is likely to be the sedan codenamed E16, expected to offer both pure electric and extended-range powertrains. This new sedan marks the fourth model in the brand’s lineup, aimed at expanding the Avatr portfolio alongside the Avatr 07 SUV.
Although the test car remains heavily camouflaged, its design bears a striking resemblance to the currently available Avatr 12, featuring C-shaped LED daytime running lights and a rooftop-mounted lidar system. The vehicle’s exterior, wrapped in eye-catching snakeskin camouflage, still reveals a sleek silhouette. The sides showcase hidden door handles and conventional rearview mirrors. For reference, the dimensions of the Avatr 12 are 5020/1999/1460 mm (L/W/H) with a wheelbase of 3020 mm. The E16 is expected to have slightly smaller dimensions, positioning it as a mid-sized sedan.
The spy shots reveal a design philosophy consistent with the Avatr 07, combining elegance and functionality. Inside, the equipment level is expected to match that of the Avatr 07, including a 15.6-inch floating infotainment screen, a 35.4-inch wraparound screen on the dashboard, and an optional 6.7-inch side-view camera display. The system will likely run on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4.0, ensuring seamless technological integration.
According to earlier reports, the Avatr E16 will offer both pure electric and extended-range versions, similar to the Avatr 07. For reference, the Avatr 07 extended-range model is powered by a 1.5T range extender and offers two-wheel and four-wheel drive versions with CLTC pure electric ranges of 220 km and 230 km. The pure electric version of the Avatr 07 provides CLTC ranges of 610 km and 650 km.
Reasonable speculation based on current information suggests that the E16 will have a slightly lower positioning and entry price compared to the Avatr 12. Once launched, its pure electric variant may compete with models such as the Tesla Model 3 and Zeekr 007, while there are relatively few extended-range sedans in a similar price range.
On the other hand, spy shots of Xiaomi’s second car, the Xiaomi SUV, have also surfaced recently. Codenamed MX11, this pure electric vehicle is planned for official launch in the first quarter of next year.
The latest spy shots reveal a partially exposed headlight, showing little change from the Xiaomi SU7. The car’s design draws inspiration from Ferrari, particularly its fastback styling, with smooth surfaces and a rounded front and tapered rear that exude sportiness.
At the rear, the vehicle is expected to feature a Saturn ring-style taillight design, similar to the Xiaomi SU7. Although the exact dimensions are not yet revealed, the car is anticipated to be slightly larger than the SU7.
Previously leaked interior images and renderings show that the Xiaomi SUV will come with two theme color options: Conch Purple and Vermilion Red. The car features a button-operated door handle and a mechanical emergency handle in the storage compartment. Its interior is expected to adopt a wraparound cockpit design, extending from the dashboard to the front and rear door handles, with possible color accents for the rear seats.
