New Car Launch | The Highly Anticipated AITO M8 Is Officially Released – Will You Buy One?

On April 16, 2025, at the HarmonyOS Intelligent Mobility New Product Launch Event, the AITO M8 was officially unveiled. Positioned as a flagship smart family SUV, the new model comes in six configurations across three versions: Extended Range Max, Extended Range Max+, and Extended Range Ultra. Each version is available in both five-seat and six-seat layouts, with prices ranging from RMB 359,800 to 449,800.

AITO M8-8

In terms of design, the AITO M8 adopts the “Kunpeng” design language, bearing some resemblance to the AITO M9 but with distinct differences in detail. The headlamps feature a new design that integrates chrome trim, daytime running lights, and high/low beams, and also supports intelligent interactive functions. The rear end is styled with multiple horizontal lines and a trendy through-type taillight cluster, while the upper spoiler enhances its sporty look. Aerodynamic optimization is applied extensively throughout the body, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.259. The side profile features semi-hidden door handles. The dimensions measure 5190/1999/1795 mm (L/W/H) with a wheelbase of 3105 mm — slightly shorter and lower than the M9, while maintaining the same width. The M8 comes in four regular color options: Glorious Black, Warm Cloud White, Starry Blue, and Pastoral Green, along with two optional special colors: Galaxy and Glow.

AITO M8-7

The interior features a wraparound cockpit design, closely resembling that of the M9. The front row is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 15.6-inch central control screen, and a 16-inch entertainment screen for the front passenger. The vehicle runs on the HarmonyOS 4 system, supporting music playback, movie watching, voice control, and more. The XHUD immersive head-up display system deeply integrates AR navigation with real-world visuals, allowing drivers to receive complete road condition information without taking their eyes off the road. The “All-Scenario Voice Assistant” supports continuous dialogue and dialect recognition, with response speeds improved by 40% over the previous generation, showcasing a leap in human-machine interaction.

AITO M8-9

A standout feature is the exclusive second-row zero-gravity seats, built with NASA-certified technology. Combined with the 19-speaker HUAWEI SOUND audio system, they transform the cabin into an emotionally resonant space. The rear cabin is equipped with a 32-inch projector and a new remote control. The upgraded projection system boasts 2.07 million ultra-dense pixels, and the second-row screen supports hover mode to display navigation and karaoke lyrics without obstructing the rearview mirror. Both five-seat and six-seat versions offer a fully flat floor. The third row of the six-seat version includes electric adjustment, cup holders, and independent air vents. The five-seat model offers 40 storage compartments, with the trunk expanding up to 1087 liters and a hidden 110-liter compartment. It also includes a 7.3-liter onboard hot & cold box, cooling from 0–15°C and heating from 35–50°C.

AITO M8-5

On the intelligent driving front, the AITO M8 is equipped with Huawei’s advanced autonomous driving technology across all trims. It features a comprehensive sensor suite, including a top-mounted 192-line LiDAR, a high-precision solid-state LiDAR, a 4D millimeter-wave radar matrix (3 units), 2 corner 4D radars, 11 high-definition cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors — totaling 30 perception components. It supports both highway NCA and urban LCC driving modes. In live demonstrations, the vehicle showcased sixth-sense-level capabilities like narrow-road passing and sudden pedestrian avoidance. Huawei has announced that all M8 models will upgrade to the HUAWEI ADS 4.0 system in Q3 2025.

2025 Max 6-Seat-1

In terms of power, the entire lineup uses a 1.5T extended-range powertrain. The 1.5T engine delivers a peak power of 118 kW, while the front and rear electric motors generate 165 kW and 227 kW respectively. The Max version is equipped with a 37 kWh battery, offering 201 km of pure electric CLTC range. The Max+ and Ultra versions come with a 53.4 kWh battery, extending the pure electric CLTC range to 310 km, with a combined range (full fuel and charge) reaching up to 1,526 km. Built on Huawei’s “Tuling” platform, the M8 adopts an enhanced front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension. All trims come standard with air suspension and EDC continuously variable damping, with five adjustable ride heights expected, just like the M9.

AITO M8-6

The AITO M8 has garnered massive attention since its presale phase. On April 6, pre-orders exceeded 100,000 units. By April 15, just before the official launch, orders climbed to 140,000 units. Within the first hour of its release, more than 20,000 confirmed orders were placed. In the mid-to-large SUV market, the M8 offers a compelling new option for family travel, with its feature-rich package, intelligent technology, and impressive range. With the first deliveries set for April 20, this intelligent mobility revolution led by Huawei could redefine the competitive landscape of the RMB 300,000–450,000 luxury SUV segment. While traditional premium brands continue to focus on leather stitching, Chinese automakers are building formidable barriers with three disruptive breakthroughs — ecosystem integration in smart cabins, algorithmic advances in autonomous driving, and efficiency gains in energy systems.
