Following the strong sales of the JETOUR Traveler series models T2 and T1, the family’s latest addition has garnered significant attention. Recently, spy shots of the JETOUR Shanhai T5 surfaced online. Although the vehicle made an appearance at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, it has not been officially released yet. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, the Shanhai T5 adopts a rugged off-road design style and was previously codenamed the JETOUR T-3.
From the recently revealed interior spy photos, the Shanhai T5’s cabin employs a design language consistent with its rugged off-road styling, creating a harmonious visual appeal with the exterior. The vehicle features a flat-bottomed, dual-spoke multifunctional steering wheel and a large floating central control screen. However, there is no instrument panel visible on the center console. Additionally, the passenger side is expected to have a storage slot or armrest.
The Shanhai T5’s auxiliary dashboard adopts a saddle-shaped design, equipped with mechanical knobs and buttons. Details such as silver trim and exposed hexagonal screws emphasize the vehicle’s rugged off-road concept. A storage compartment in front of the silver trim likely integrates wireless phone charging functionality. It is worth noting that the test vehicle shown in the spy shots may not represent the final interior design, which should be based on official announcements.
According to previous product plans from JETOUR, its models are divided into three series: Urban SUVs, Light Off-Road SUVs, and Rugged Off-Road SUVs. In the Urban SUV series, the X70, X90, and Dasheng have already been launched. In the Light Off-Road series, the Traveler (T-1) gasoline version and the Shanhai T2 (Traveler PHEV) have hit the market. The Shanhai T5 falls under the Rugged Off-Road series.
Looking specifically at the Rugged Off-Road series, models include those codenamed T-2/T-3 and P-2/P-3. Recent updates indicate that the Shanhai T5 (codename T-3) measures approximately 5403/2050/1936 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3100 mm. It features a non-load-bearing body, triple differential locks, and is powered by a 2.0T hybrid-specific engine paired with a hybrid-specific transmission and a rear electric motor for all-wheel drive. The 0–100 km/h acceleration time is reported to be 4.6 seconds.
Analyzing the power parameters compared to competitors, the Shanhai T5 is likely classified as a C/D-segment off-road SUV. The concept version, previously showcased, impressed with its robust visual appeal and a wealth of exterior features. These include a multifunctional roof rack, side boxes, competitive bumpers, and branch deflectors on both sides of the front grille, giving the vehicle a tough and versatile look.
In terms of dimensions, the JETOUR Shanhai T5 aligns closely with the Tank 700 Hi4-T and the BYD Leopard 8, both of which also feature non-load-bearing body designs. It is anticipated that the Shanhai T5 will be priced starting around 300,000 RMB. Currently, the JETOUR Shanhai T2 is performing well in terms of sales, with retail sales of 5,658 units in November. This model is the plug-in hybrid version of the JETOUR Traveler, while the gasoline version recorded 10,682 units in retail sales during the same period.
