Coming This July: Comprehensive Look at the All-New Xiaomi YU7
On May 22, Xiaomi officially unveiled its first-ever SUV—the Xiaomi YU7. Marketed as a “luxury high-performance SUV,” the YU7 will be offered in single- and dual-motor configurations with three trim levels. It is set to go head-to-head with competitors like the Tesla Model Y and will officially hit the market in July 2025.

Sleek Exterior with Performance-Oriented Design
Carrying forward the design language of the Xiaomi SU7, the YU7 features a closed front fascia with the iconic silver Xiaomi logo on the hood. The front bumper includes triangular-shaped air intakes on both sides, and body-colored decorative panels in the center. The headlight design resembles the SU7 but introduces hollowed-out sections in the upper part for airflow, along with a 180° ultra-wide-angle lighting upgrade.
The side profile boasts a fastback silhouette, flush electric door handles, and high-gloss black detailing on the wheel arches, window trims, and lower door moldings. With dimensions of 4999 mm (L) x 1996 mm (W) x 1600 mm (H) and a wheelbase of 3000 mm, the YU7 is classified as a mid-to-large full-electric SUV with a five-seat layout and optional 275 mm wide rear tires.
At the rear, the YU7 features C-shaped through-tail lamps, distinct from the horizontal layout on the SU7, but still equipped with a transparent housing. A hollow roof spoiler and a “ducktail” rear lip spoiler enhance aerodynamics and style. The rear bumper combines gloss-black and body-colored accents in line with Xiaomi’s sleek design ethos.

Three launch colors were announced: Emerald Green, Titanium, and Lava Orange, with more options promised.
Smart, Minimalist Interior
Inside, the Xiaomi YU7 sports a wraparound cabin layout similar to the SU7 but makes some key updates. It features a large floating center display and replaces the flip-up full LCD instrument cluster with Xiaomi’s new “Skyline Display” panoramic system, offering vital info like range, gear selection, drive mode, and navigation.
The new flat-bottom, three-spoke steering wheel includes a center marker and drive mode selector knob but removes most physical buttons, retaining only side scroll wheels for a minimalist look.
Other interior highlights include:
Column-mounted gear shifter
Redesigned front console with wireless phone charging
Horizontal cupholders
Zero-gravity front seats with one-touch recline and 10-point massage functions
Electrically adjustable rear seats
Frameless doors with push-button opening
UWB ultra-wideband tech for keyless entry and walk-away auto-lock

Advanced Driver Assistance and Sensor Suite
Standard across all trims, the YU7 features a full suite of ADAS hardware, including:

12 ultrasonic sensors
1 4D millimeter-wave radar
11 high-definition cameras

Market Outlook and Positioning
Although pricing was not announced during the launch, Xiaomi confirmed the YU7 is not yet available for pre-order. Based on specs and size, its main competitors are the Avatr 11 and Luxeed R7, though it’s likely to challenge the Tesla Model Y, which is slightly smaller but similarly priced in China (RMB ¥263,500 to ¥313,500).
Will the Xiaomi YU7 disrupt the mid-to-large electric SUV segment? With its premium features, cutting-edge technology, and brand strength, Xiaomi is clearly setting its sights on dominating this space.Stay tuned for pricing and real-world reviews in July!
