China NEV Brand Sales Ranking July

The scorching summer continues, and so does the fierce competition among Chinese NEV startups. The July sales ranking for China’s new car-making forces is officially out. While the data reflects domestic market performance during the traditional sales off-season, it still provides valuable insight. Notably, Leapmotor, Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility (HarmonyOS Vehicles), and XPeng maintained their momentum, setting new monthly records.

China NEV Brand Sales Ranking July

🥇 Leapmotor Breaks Through 50,000 Units – Reclaims No.1 Spot

In July, Leapmotor hit a major milestone, surpassing 50,000 units in monthly sales for the first time, regaining the top spot among China’s NEV startups. This represents a 126% year-on-year increase and a 4.42% month-on-month growth, making it one of the few brands to achieve positive growth on both fronts. The strong performance is largely credited to new models like the C11 and B01, with more releases expected to drive further growth.

🥈 HIMA: 48,000 Units, Still a Strong Contender

Huawei’s HarmonyOS-powered vehicle brand followed closely with 48,000 units sold, though this marked a 9.97% month-on-month decline. Despite losing its lead in monthly rankings, it still holds the top position in cumulative annual sales among both new forces and premium brands. The AITO lineup remains the key driver, with 40,573 units sold in July alone. The brand is gearing up for a stronger second half, with upcoming launches like the AITO M8 EV, refreshed LUXEED R7, LUXEED S7, and new models STELATO S9T, SAIC H5, and a new AITO M7, all set to stimulate a new wave of demand.

🥉 XPeng Hits All-Time High with 36,700 Units

XPeng led the second-tier group with 36,700 units sold, marking a 229% YoY and 6% MoM growth, setting a new all-time high for monthly sales. The M03 series alone delivered over 15,000 units, with the MAX version gaining traction. Meanwhile, the new G7 received over 10,000 firm orders within just 9 minutes of launch. The refreshed P7 is also set to debut in August, pointing to promising growth ahead.

🚗 Li Auto & Xiaomi Both Top 30,000 – Mixed Results

Both Li Auto and Xiaomi EV recorded just over 30,000 units in July. Li Auto experienced a rare decline in both YoY and MoM figures. After the launch of the Li Auto i8, the company swiftly introduced strategic adjustments, and its future sales performance remains to be seen. Meanwhile, Xiaomi set a new personal best with over 30,000 deliveries, largely driven by the success of the SU7, signaling its potential to break into the top tier.

🚙 Mid-Tier Brands (20,000+ Units): Deepal, NIO in Focus

Next are the brands selling over 20,000 units:

  • Deepal led this group with 27,000 units, despite a 9.02% MoM drop.

  • NIO reported 21,000 units, down 15.7% MoM. Breakdown:

    • NIO brand: 12,675

    • ONVO: 5,976

    • Firefly: 2,366

NIO’s focus is now on the newly launched ONVO L90, which was officially unveiled at the end of July. With strong pre-sale feedback, it could help the company break out of its current bottleneck.

⚡ Brands with 10,000+ Monthly Sales: Zeekr, Leopard, Voyah, Denza, Avatr

Several other brands maintained solid sales above 10,000 units:

  • Zeekr topped this group with 16,977 units, achieving 19.7% YoY and 2.7% MoM growth, with the 7X model rebounding significantly.

  • BYD Leopard hit 14,180 units, mainly thanks to strong Titanium 3 sales, which exceeded 8,000 units.

  • Voyah delivered 12,135 units, powered by the newly launched FREE+, boasting 102% YoY and 21% MoM growth, potentially kicking off a “second growth curve”.

  • Denza appears to be hitting a bottleneck, with sales dropping over 4,000 units MoM, relying heavily on the D9. All eyes are now on the upcoming N8L.

  • Avatr has consistently surpassed 10,000 units for five straight months, though MoM changes remain modest.
