BYD's Latest Launch Event : Han L and Tang L Equipped with Cutting-Edge Technology
On March 17, 2025, BYD officially unveiled the pre-sale of its brand-new models, the Han L and Tang L, at a technology launch event. The pre-sale price ranges from RMB 280,000 to 350,000, targeting the mid-to-high-end new energy vehicle market. Both models are built on BYD’s latest Super e-Platform.
Super e-Platform: Ultra-Fast Charging and High Efficiency
The Super e-Platform adopts a 1000V architecture, featuring ultra-fast charging batteries and a megawatt-level charging system with a maximum charging power of 1000 kW. According to test data, the platform can provide 2 km of range in just one second and charge up to 400 km in five minutes, significantly improving long-distance driving convenience. Additionally, the platform supports dual-gun charging, with each gun offering a maximum power of 500 kW, making it compatible with various charging equipment.
Compared to the current Han and Tang models, the Han L and Tang L boast five major upgrades.
Five Major Upgrades of Han L and Tang L
1.Exterior Redesign
The Han L and Tang L feature an entirely new design while retaining some of the classic elements of their predecessors. The body dimensions have been increased compared to the existing Han and Tang models, making them larger and more spacious. The visual upgrades are evident at first glance, so we won’t delve into the details here.
2.Platform Upgrade: Super e-Platform
As mentioned earlier, the Han L and Tang L are among the first models built on BYD’s Super e-Platform. With the support of megawatt-level fast-charging stations, these new vehicles achieve an ultra-high 1000V voltage, 1000A high current, and 1000kW charging power. In simple terms, they can charge for five minutes and gain 400 km of range—equivalent to 2 km per second. This charging speed rivals traditional refueling times.
Moreover, the Super e-Platform is more than just fast charging. It is a fully integrated high-voltage architecture, meaning all onboard electrical devices, such as air conditioning, displays, and seat heating, operate with lower currents and reduced energy loss, indirectly enhancing driving range.
3.Motor Upgrade: New 30,000 RPM Motor
The Han L and Tang L come equipped with BYD’s latest 30,000 RPM motor. The current rear-wheel-drive versions of the Han EV and Tang EV produce 204 hp, while the all-wheel-drive versions deliver 517 hp. However, the new Han L and Tang L significantly raise the bar—the rear-wheel-drive single-motor version now boasts 680 hp, while the all-wheel-drive version reaches a staggering four-digit power output of 1,102 hp. All models achieve acceleration in the 4-second range, with the AWD Han L reaching 0-100 km/h in an astonishing 2.7 seconds.
4.Battery Upgrade: Higher Energy Density and Faster Charging
The Han L starts with an 83 kWh battery, while the Tang L features a 100 kWh battery. The energy density has increased from 140 Wh/kg to 190 Wh/kg, making the battery more compact and further improving charging performance. Additionally, the cooling system for the battery and motor has been upgraded from liquid coolant to a specialized refrigerant, which not only cools more rapidly but is also non-conductive, enhancing overall safety.
5.Intelligent Driving System Upgrade
The existing Han and Tang models utilize BYD’s “God’s Eye C” intelligent driving system, which relies solely on vision-based technology. However, the new Han L and Tang L adopt the more advanced “God’s Eye B” intelligent driving system, incorporating LiDAR and a more powerful computing chip. In addition to high-speed intelligent navigation assistance, it also supports urban NOA (Navigation on Autopilot).
