2025 Li Auto Full Lineup Refresh: Intelligent Versions of L6, L7, L8, and L9 Released
On May 8, Li Auto officially launched its refreshed 2025 L series, unveiling upgraded intelligent editions of the L6, L7, L8, and L9 all at once—breaking away from the usual single-model release strategy. These updated models feature comprehensive improvements across exterior design, chassis, assisted driving systems, and smart cockpit functionalities. So, what exactly has been upgraded? Let’s dive straight into the key highlights.

🔧 NVIDIA Thor-U Chip Upgrade
In the new AD Max assisted driving system, Li Auto has replaced the dual Orin-X chips with a single NVIDIA Thor-U chip. According to the company, both configurations offer the same high-level assisted driving capabilities and support for full-scenario NOA (Navigate on Autopilot). Additionally, both chips are compatible with the latest end-to-end AI models and will support the upcoming VLA model launching later this year.

🧠 Horizon J6M Chip + Lidar for AD Pro
For vehicles equipped with the AD Pro system, Li Auto has upgraded from the Horizon J5 chip to the newer J6M chip and added a lidar sensor—bringing active safety performance closer to that of the AD Max system. Both J5 and J6M support highway NOA functionality and can receive continuous OTA upgrades for enhanced driving assistance.

👩💼 "Li Xiang Tong Xue" Gets a 3D Makeover
Beyond assisted driving, the refreshed L series introduces revamped interiors with new color options and redesigned wheels. The virtual assistant “Li Xiang Tong Xue” now appears in a 3D avatar and can handle a wide array of lifestyle services like food delivery, dine-in waitlisting, courier tracking, ticket booking, bill payments, and travel planning.

🌿 Li Auto L6: More Style, More Tech
The refreshed L6 now comes in a new “Sky Blue Pearl” special edition paint and offers black-brown dual-tone interior options along with new 20-inch and 21-inch wheels for a premium look. Inside the smart cockpit, the updated assistant features a plush avatar with memory capabilities and can manage external tasks like ordering food, reserving tables, and buying tickets.
Most notably, the L6 now comes standard with ATL lidar—60% smaller and lighter than before, with a maximum detection range of 200 meters and 55% lower power consumption. Previously, the L6 Pro lacked lidar entirely, so this upgrade brings AD Pro’s active safety much closer to AD Max levels.

💡 L7 & L8: Power, Comfort, and Safety Boost
The L7 and L8 maintain their sleek design language, featuring rising waistlines, body-colored mirrors, hidden door handles, privacy rear glass, and chrome window trims. Both models now come in a new “Blue-Grey Special Edition Cool Light” exterior color, alongside the new black-brown dual-tone interior and 20- to 21-inch wheel options.
Under the hood, the Max versions now pack a 52.3 kWh large battery. As a result, L7 Max’s pure electric range increases from 225 km to 286 km, and L8 Max from 225 km to 280 km. Fast charging from 20% to 80% now takes just 25 minutes.
All variants in the L7/L8 lineup receive upgraded chips and come standard with lidar. The enhanced AD Pro system now incorporates end-to-end AI models, offering a more intuitive assisted driving experience.
In terms of suspension, the entire L7/L8 lineup comes equipped with dual-chamber air suspension, which improves damping force by 30%, effectively reducing body roll and pitch during acceleration, braking, or cornering—resulting in a smoother and more stable ride.

👑 L9: Flagship Model with Premium Touches
The flagship L9 also sees a significant refresh. A new “Elegant Grey” paint with matte gold accents on the logo, window trim, and wheels further distinguishes its high-end appeal. The Ultra variant features a matte gold finish on its logo, mirrors, and window trims, along with dark gold wheels for an extra touch of class.
Feature-wise, the L9 adds an 8MP ultra-clear digital rearview mirror, hot-stone massage seats (borrowed from the Li Auto MEGA Home model), and a 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen. Its premium 21-speaker PSS audio system supports Dolby Atmos for an immersive sound experience.
Perhaps the most notable upgrade is the suspension system: a dual-chamber, dual-valve “magic carpet” air suspension capable of independently controlling pitch and roll. This type of high-end suspension is typically reserved for luxury cars in the million-yuan price range—making the L9 the first Chinese production car to feature it.
The powertrain remains unchanged: a 1.5L range extender engine paired with electric motors delivering 330 kW and 620 Nm of torque. The 52.3 kWh battery supports a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 280 km.

📈 Final Thoughts
As one of China’s leading new energy vehicle (NEV) brands, Li Auto has shown impressive growth in recent years. However, the competition is intensifying. In April 2025, Li Auto delivered 33,939 vehicles—trailing behind Leapmotor and XPeng. The best-selling models were the L6, L7, and L8.
According to the company, deliveries of the refreshed L series will begin on May 9, 2025. That said, Li Auto’s lack of mainstream pure electric models still limits its market potential. To address this, the brand plans to launch all-electric SUVs like the i8 and i9 in the near future. Whether these new models can help diversify its lineup and reduce reliance on extended-range vehicles remains to be seen—but expectations are high.
