2025 AITO Family Updates: AITO M9, AITO M5, AITO M8
On March 20, 2025, AITO introduced updates to its lineup, unveiling the 2025 models of the AITO M9, M5 Ultra. Additionally, the AITO M8, which fills the market gap between the M7 and M9, was showcased. Pre-orders for the M8 have exceeded 70,000 units, the official launch of the M8 is anticipated in April 2025.

AITO M9
The 2025 AITO M9 has undergone a comprehensive upgrade in intelligent driving, smart safety, and comfort features. It comes standard with Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving assistance system across all models, equipped with 36 perception hardware components. These include a top-mounted 192-line LiDAR, three solid-state LiDARs, three distributed 4D millimeter-wave radars, two rear millimeter-wave radars, 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, four external array microphones, and more. These enhancements provide full-scene perception of dynamic and static objects, with improved recognition of rear-floating obstacles and complex negative scenarios compared to the previous version.
The 2025 AITO M9 also features upgraded parking capabilities. The Valet Parking Driver (VPD) function now supports automatic cruising for parking space detection, autonomous vehicle retrieval, and multi-level parking. Additionally, the new model expands its parking scenarios, allowing seamless transitions from departure to destination with valet or remote parking activation.
Beyond intelligence, the 2025 AITO M9 has also received extensive comfort upgrades. New features include smart privacy windows, Huawei’s Star River Communication, dynamic ambient lighting, a new welcoming light system, gesture-controlled door opening, an electric hot/cold storage box, a floating car display, and an anti-pinch mechanism for all power components. The rear seat adjustment controls have also been relocated to the rear doors.
In terms of trim differences, the Ultra variant of the 2025 AITO M9 adds electric doors, million-pixel intelligent projection headlights, a smart laser projection system, and a zero-gravity second-row right seat compared to the Max version.
AITO M5
The 2025 AITO M5 is available in three variants: Extended-Range Ultra RWD, Extended-Range Ultra AWD, and All-Electric Ultra RWD. As the latest model in the AITO M5 series, the Ultra version has enhanced intelligent driving capabilities, comes standard with Huawei’s advanced driver-assistance system, and features refined interior details. Customers can choose between an all-electric or extended-range powertrain.
Exterior
The AITO M5 Ultra maintains a similar design to the 2024 model, featuring a closed front grille with air vents integrated into the lower front bumper. It offers six body color options, including four free choices—Tahiti Gray, Metropolitan Red, Ceramic White, and Gilded Black—plus two newly introduced premium colors: Zero Degree White and Phantom Purple.
Interior
The AITO M5 Ultra continues the dashboard design of the 2024 model, featuring an embedded LCD instrument panel, a floating center screen, and a dual-spoke steering wheel. It introduces a new optional color, Amber Orange, in addition to the existing Feather Red and Elegant Apricot as free customization choices.
Interior refinements include a new column-mounted gear selector, redesigned center console layout, horizontally aligned cup holders, additional storage space under the co-pilot’s dashboard, and an upgraded in-car system with 3D vehicle controls, pet-friendly themes, and customizable lock sounds. The co-pilot seat now includes a seamless four-way leg rest.
The M5 Ultra comes fully equipped with:
- 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
- Heated, ventilated, massaging, and memory seats for both front occupants
- Headrest audio for the driver
- Queen seat for the co-pilot
- Heated rear seats
- Head-up display (HUD)
Smart Driving & Safety
The M5 Ultra features Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving system with a front-mounted 192-line LiDAR and 4D millimeter-wave radar. Safety enhancements include:
- Comfort braking
- AEB all-direction collision prevention
- eAES automatic emergency steering (OTA upgrade required)
AITO M8
As AITO’s latest SUV, the AITO M8 measures 5190mm (L) × 1999mm (W) × 1795mm (H), with a wheelbase of 3105mm, closely approaching the dimensions of the M9. It offers five-seat and six-seat configurations and is currently available only as an extended-range hybrid model.
The AITO M8 follows the brand’s signature design language while incorporating notable enhancements. The front bumper features a large through-type cooling intake, paired with continuous LED lighting elements. The headlamps seamlessly integrate with the LED strip for a unified look. Unlike the AITO M9, the M8 has a taller front hood with a muscular, squared-off design, making it more appealing to a wider consumer base.
The rear design closely resembles the M9, with a full-width taillight assembly featuring pixelated light elements that support customizable light displays.
The AITO M8 is powered by a 1.5T range-extender system delivering 118 kW—the same as the new M9. It features dual electric motors, with outputs of 165 kW (front) and 227 kW (rear). Two battery options are available:
- 36 kWh (LFP battery)
- 52 kWh (NMC battery)
The CLTC electric range reaches up to 310 km, while the combined range extends up to 1526 km.
